Maximum memory in S30

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

#1 Post by mesament » Sat Jul 28, 2007 11:33 pm

I have a S30 and am wondering if anyone has successfully installed more than 256 MB of ram?

I have two S30s ...:-) One with 128 MB, one with 256 MB RAM. But I did not ever try to increase RAM. De facto I was and am affraid of changing anything because these machines are too rare.
Where would I get replacement parts? I experiment with them very, very carefuly.

I am happy they work (with Win2000).
Sorry I can not help you.

HMM says 128 MB onboard memory plus max. 128 MB.
Crucial system scanner´s reply was unsure - did not recognise S30.

And you, did you try to increase RAM?

Looks like that's a chipset limitation in the i440MX - 256MiB maximum addressable RAM.
Current: 365XD (120 MHz, 72 MiB, 6.4 GB, 4x CD-ROM, 10.4" TFT)
Past: T61p 15.0" QXGA, T60p 15.0" QXGA, X61 Tablet SXGA+, R51e 14.1" XGA, X21
