I'm in the process of trying to do a memory upgrade on my 600X, but I'm stuck. I can't get the old one out.
I've downloaded the maintanence manual, but it only has 2 pictures, which are not helping me.
I've taken the cover off and the bottom. Now what? Nothing else wants toi move.
Any help much appreciated!!

There are 2 silver arms that clip on each side of the DIMM, the arms are part of the DIMM socket. The arms are shaped so that part sits in the semicircular indentations on the edge of the DIMM holding it in place. Gently spread these apart to disengage them from the DIMM and lift the DIMM up gently from the back edge - it will pivot from the front edge, it will then pull out ... pulling away from the socket.
When putting in the new DIMM, insert at the same angle the old on ended up at b4 it was removed so the contacts are in the socket, then push downwards on the back of the DIMM so the silver arms engage in the indentations on the DIMM
Hope that helps - if u r really stuck, PM me and I'll mail u some pics
I would also advise using anti-static protection when handling memory to protect from static discharge damage (have my HP Server Engineer hat on now)

Thanks. I was fiddling with the clips for ages, but nothing was happening.
i stopped before i broke something and did my X21 instead. That was easy enough.
I haven't got a anti static strip, so I've jsut been trying not to touch the chips. And randomly touching the coffee table every couple of minutes. lol
Right, I'll have another go...

Also, I've got 2 new cards to put in. where does the 2nd one go? One already in there looks different with no chips, do I leave that one?

Just looked again and (thanks to your description) I think I might have been really dumb... I was trying to get the one underneath out and not noticed the 2 empty slots above. Bright spark me!
I'll try again...
