Ebay ? 600 or 600E

#1 Post by UDX » Wed Aug 01, 2007 4:28 am

I guess I am somewhat impatient and I wanted to figure out if this is 600 or 600E?

I did contact the seller so I am awaiting for answer, however, can any of you take a guess? I think that 366 Mhz would belong to Higher 100 Mhz bus speed so this would be 600E. However, if it's 333 Mhz that would make it 600 then right (highest speed on 66Mhz bus).

Also the similar issue here - people don't put any details about the product but I do believe that this one is 600 but no CPU speed information?

I am thinking that this is "no boot device" error message as I have gotten it on my TP.

The speed listed must be wrong. I don't believe a 333Mhz 600 was made. If it's a 366Mhz CPU, it's a 600E.

The P2 MMC2 366Mhz is a 66Mhz processor, as was the P2 MMC2 400Mhz processor that also shipped in the 600E - the 600x P3 MMC2 450Mhz was the first 100mhz to ship in the 600 range.

See this link for numerical POST codes for 600 range

The hand written description says 366MHz, sometimes the "item details" box can be wrong, because of limited choices.

Now, the question on whether it is a 600 or a 600E...it is anyones guess, as there were straight 600's that went up to 400MHz (MMC-1), whereas the 600Es started at 300MHz, and went up to 400MHz (MMC-2).

Well you won't believe it. According to the sticker on the bottom this is 2645-51U - and it would be 266 Mhz model, so it is Thinkpad 600 (probably the processor may have been upgraded).

The first 600's had 12" screens. Then they had 13" screens and the later ones had the 13.3" screens. I have at least one of each of the 600's with the 3 different sized screens. If its a 51U, then it is definatley a 600.

If the buyer states the model number is 2645-51u, the lenovo website states that it is a pII 266 and has a 13.3 inch screen. I have that same model in pieces. On this specific mb you can't upgrade from to 266 to 366. The CPU cards are different. The CPU on 600 are 233, 266, 300mhz and there is two strips of pins on the underside. Whereas, the CPU on 600e are 300, 366, 400mhz and there is only one larger strip of pins. I don't know much on the 600x, but other members can chime in on these.

It is possible the previous owner upgraded the CPU. I upgraded my 51U to a 400mhz proccesor. You are right about the configuration of the CPU though. The 600's used MMC-1 CPU's (2 strips of pins) and the 600e's used MMC-2 CPUs (one large strip). But you can find MMC-1 CPU's in different speeds. The fastest being a 400mhz. But it most likely has a 266 i it and the description was a typo.
