570E - which version of Hardware Maintenance Disk?

I have a 570E which has a 0189 error at boot up (as discussed in other thread).

One fix I want to try is using a Hardware Maintenance Disk to attempt to correct the EEPROM checksum error.

When I searched the archives , version 1.62 was being used with the 570E.

I currently have access to version 1.72.

Is the Hardware Maintenance Disk " backwards compatible" - so I can just use version 1.72 or do you need to match the version with the Thinkpad ie a 570E uses version 1.62?
