Hello,

I'm currently looking to find some kind of PCMCIA-based CD drive that will allow me to boot from it when I enable booting from PCMCIA. This works fine for CompactFlash cards but I haven't been able to determine whether anything else is bootable.

I did get hold of a Portable Drive Bay 2000 but that won't boot, although that is more of a multi-purpose enclosure.

Any confirmed reports?

Model: 1969010 is the most popular for your 560 *but*......

Unless the IBM PCMCIA CDROM's ID string is included in your 560's BIOS it's something that needs a boot floppy or a working OS to use. There were one or two that where included in say.....the 240/240X's BIOS (which are USB and not PCMCIA) but I'm not sure the 560 at it's time of conception was that developed yet. Your BIOS looks similar to my 760's and my 240X's BIOS is a different animal all together from my 760's.

I think for the most part the PCMCIA option originally was created for booting from a PCMCIA NIC but I could be wrong.

I'm sure someone knows more than I and will be along shortly........
