760E keyboard doesnt work

Hi, I have a 760E, it was working fine but suddenly the keyboard is not working. The conection seems ok, it looked like some combination of keys blocked the keyboard, or the fact to open and close the screen while it was working locked the keyboard. Please if some of you had a similar problem, let me what can be that.

Do you have a full image but you can't do anything with the keyboard? Or does the computer not start? The causes of these two symptoms are different.
If the computer just won't start, you might want to check the two switches that detect (1) the keyboard is locked down and (2) the lid is open. The first one is on the bottom of the keyboard unit and is moved by a prong that is located near the bottom of the hard drive. The second one is in a small recess near the LCD and is actuated by a cam on the display.
If the problem is that nothing on the keyboard works, it's possible that it is dead. In this case, you will need to replace it; not a very difficult task. Get the Hardware Maintenance Manual (vol4hmm.pdf) for instructions on how to do the job. One thing: don't tighten screws too much when you reassemble the computer. Too tight is as bad as too loose.

there is a keyboard test in the bios test..
once there, i think the key combination to invoke the keyboard test is ctrl-K..
IF you have any use of the keyboard, at all..

Actually, if you hit Ctrl-A while in the basic diagnostic screen, the following happens:
1. You get a list of all recognized components.
2. You get to a keyboard test.
The keyboard test will check for particular keys not functioning, but if the whole keyboard is kaput, it may not help much. Then again, if the whole keyboard is kaput, you won't be able to enter Ctrl-A

I have not seen this happen too much, but because of the keyboard design on the 760 and 765 where you have the keys lifted up and no real support under them, over time, and with heavy use, that keyboard is alot more delicate than that of most other laptops. If you do get your keyboard working again without replacing it, I'd reccomend having the keyboard down instead of lifted up when using it.

I have two keyboards I dont need. I will sell them for what I gave for them.
One is new, and I have to get $25.00 for it. Thats whatI paid for it!!!
The oher is used but good and I paid $15.00 for it.... so, I need 25 for one
and 15 for the other, plus S/H...
