IBM TP 701c question: External FDD unit

Hello all,

I recently bought a used IBM TP 701c via an internet auction. Sadly, it is in bad condition and lacking some parts and accesories. I wanted to check if everything is OK so I decided to buy an external FDD unit. I dug up a model designed for an 600X (FRU P.N. 05K6187). The main issue is that it has a different (smaller) connector than used in the 701c. So here are my questions:

1. Are there any adaptors available so I could plug the FDD into it and the adaptor to the TP ?

2. I have ordered a couple of connectors to the TP 701c (for printers). Is there a way to modify the connector cable so it could work with the FDD that i own ??

3. If all else fails: Are there any 3rd pairity vendors or other notebook manufactors that have made a unit that will work with my TP ?

Many thanks for the kind people who got interested with this topic.

Hi sb102

1)I dont know whether there are any adaptors to conncet FRU P.N. 05K6187 to the 701.
the original adapter cable (a sticker with "04H6728" and a bar code on it)
will work with the original 701 FDD PN10H390, FRU10H4056(also used with TP365)
further any FDD that fits into the TP570 Ultrabase
and also the side connector of TP770 FDD

2) I´m sure there is a way , but i dont know the pin assignments...

3) like the adapter cable for the ultrabase 2000 FDD
several old notebook floppies can be connected to the parallel port
Once again i do not know if they work when connected to the 701 port replicator.
