600X unknown devices

Hello,

I swapped a harddrive that was being setup with 98SE for a 600E to my 'new' 600X. I have updated the device drivers and think that I have everything working, but there remain two "Unknown Device[s]" and I can't figure out what they are. Is there anyway of determining what they are?

Thanx,

cure

They might be the internal modem and the USB port.

A good way to find what is missing would be to check if all ports/sound are working properly on the machine.

USB is working and the modem, although untested, accepted the 600X drivers and seems to be set up correctly.

To help identify the missing hardware/device, you might try comparing your Device Manager listing with the one on the Lenovo site: Default Device Manager listing for Windows 98 - ThinkPad 600X.

Here are my guesses for what you are missing:

Standard Bus Mastering IDE Hard Disk Controller?
Intel 82371AB /EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller?
- if either of these don't appear correctly, then re-apply the APMINST.REG patch from the Win98 Supplemental File Disk.

Thinkpad UltraBay Hot/Warm Swap Driver?
- if so, then apply the Ultrabay driver

Crystal SoundFusion....?
- are you sure you have the full set of these devices?

Thanx, it was the crystal joystick and crystal game device.

Now the only problem is I can't get the crystal joystick to install correctly. Or more precisely, the device refuses to load MMDEVLDR.VXD. In all honesty, I don't care very much, but it is midly frustrating.
