Is the 570 series keyboard same as 600E/X?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Is the 570 series keyboard same as 600E/X?

#1 Post by gator » Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:56 am

I was wondering if the 570/570E series machines have a similar (or same) keyboard as the 600 series thinkpads. Can someone confirm or deny this?

What are you looking for exactly? I can take a look at my 570E and 600E when I get home from work.

Just curious to know if the keyboard size/feel is the same.

Size wise they're very similar, no dicernable difference to me.. Typing on them though, it seems like the 600E feels squishier while the 570E keys are a little stiffer. Seems like the keys are more solid on the 600E vs the 570E. Sounds more solid too.

600x and 600 have nicer feeling keyboards than the 570 or 570e. Indeed I do not know better.

In my opinion, the 570 keys are stiffer than the 600 keys.

On a sidenote, as Mike and I found out some time back, the 600 series does share it's keyboard with the 560Z (not 560, 560E or 560X though).
