#1 Post by parangles » Wed Oct 24, 2007 12:56 pm

I have been trying to get into safe mode in Win 98 on a 560X by
holding down F8 or del but it wont go- just get a 301.
Some other way ? Thanks lots !!

It says try using the CTRL key  . Didn't know that, but then again it's been years since I tried getting into safe mode with Win98. Also, wait until the BIOS messages have appeared on the screen before you press the CTRL (or F8 ) key. My guess is that you are getting an "0A" before the 301 error. That would be an error code for a "stuck" F8 key.

edit: Corrected "cool" smiley to "F8"

' ctrl ' worked after a few attempts- timing is critical as you said -
just after the post beep worked. I'm getting the old girl ready to go to Budapest for a vacation trip up the Danube River. :D
Thanks !!
