i-1400 CD drive compatibility

#1 Post by joester » Tue Nov 13, 2007 12:24 pm

Anyone know if newer CD drives are compatible with the i-series?

The one I worked on seems to have tracking issues. It sounds like it's searching the full range of the LED with many not so friendly sounds while moving....

The CD drive should be a standard type save for the front bezel and any trim fittings attached to it.

I kinda figured that, but Replacing the CD drive on one of these isn't a walk in the park. I would hate to go through the motions and end up with a drive that "almost" worked.

Thanks. I have a few CD/RW's. maybe one of them would work?
