Hi. hoping someone can help. I have a 600x, and having trouble with trackpoint mouse(it has a mind of its own... roams all over screen then settles at left side of screen) I use an external mouse with a bit better control. i updated drivers but that is about the limits of my computer knowledge . Can anyone help me out ?? thanks in advance

Welcome to thinkpads.com!
What you are describing sounds like a broken trackpoint. If it ALWAYS moves on its own, then about the only thing you can do is replace the keyboard. The trackpoint is fairly well integrated into the keyboard. If however, it does work most of the time and then seems to take off by itself, then there could be one explanation. The trackpoint is designed to null out any external pressure after a few seconds. If you rest your finger on top of the trackpoint when it is not being used (i.e., you are not actively trying to push it around), it will cancel out your fingertip pressure. If you then remove your finger and the mouse pointer starts taking off for a few seconds, then this is a "normal" result of the re-calibration process. The cure? Keep your finger off of the trackpoint when you are not using it.
