TP570: any internal WiFi possible?

I have 2 old 570s and I've always liked them even tho I use the T40 and T60 more, and I've been using PCMCIA for WiFi.
Is there an internal card (mini-PCI?) I can add in to get rid of the stick-out PCMCIA? I'm using ubuntu mostly and I know that the Airlink101 Atheros works well.

The 570 and 570E both have mini-pci cards under the keyboard. The slot is already populated with a modem so you'll lose that function. I followed the directions from other members here (do a search). I put one antenna under the left hinge cover and one next to the card itself. Reception was about half that of my 3Com card with X-Jack.

Maybe I'll leave it alone then. I don't want to lose the modem in case I need it when there is no wireless, and PCMCIA modem cards may not be available. It's not a big deal to put a wireless into the PCMCIA.

Wasn't there a card with wifi+modem up for discussion long ago on this board?

There is the wireless/modem combo card like what was installed in some T23s. However, trying to get it to work inside a 600X has proven fruitless. I sold such a card to Robin Mutoid a few months back and we have not been able to figure out how to get the modem section working.
