I'm not personally familiar with the 340CSE, but according to two sources I consider reliable, the maximum upgrade card is only 8MB (for a total of 12MB including the 4MB that's already on the motherboard).

Crucial is incorect about my 750P, stating that 20MB is the max (16MB plus the 4MB built-in). My 750P has a 32MB card fully working right now.
Kahlon does offer a 32MB card though.
And come to think of it, I may still have the card I pulled out, but I'm not sure if it's 16MB or 8MB...

Crucial's recommendations are very conservative, since they
guarantee that whatever memory they recommend will work.

Thank you friends for your valuable iinformation. Today I could purchase a new Kingston 16MB DRAM at a cost of US$ 32.34. I have replaced the 8MB DRAM with 16MB DRAM but TP340CSE could accept only 8MB from it with a total of 12MB. Any way it is an experience to me. Now I have got 8MB DRAM as described below as a spare:IBM IC DRAM CARD
8MB CAPACITY
JEIDA VER 1.0
P/N 40G0276
FRU P/N 07G1416
Made in Japan
If any one who requires the above DRAM may please communicate to me through my email:
