Is this a safe power substitution for a Thinkpad?

I have a power supply transformer left over from a Compaq laptop. I'm
tempted to use it with my Thinkpad as the spec's are very, very
similar. Any thoughts on this? Are these small variations enough to
make any difference or damage anything?

Here are the specs:
Compaq - Volts (max.) =18.75; Amps=3.15; Watts=41
IMB - Volts=16; Amps=3.36; Watts not specified

Both have the same polarity.

Thanks, Clif

The voltage is too high on the Compaq unit, and will drive up amperage used within the ThinkPad electronics. I think the probability of damage is high. There were 19 volt bricks for some of the i-model ThinkPads, and they had very different plugs to prevent interchange. I wouldn't do it.
