Interchangability of 770X LCDs

#1 Post by virge » Tue Dec 11, 2007 12:10 pm

I have a 770X with a bad LCD (among other things). The original SXGA panel is cracked and doesn't light up. The motherboard will boot to an external monitor. I first plugged it into a 15" LCD monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution-- the monitor gave an "out of range" error. I then plugged in a regular CRT monitor (an old IBM 17") and it worked fine.

Its good news that the mainboard works, but this leads to me to think that I am limited to an SXGA panel. These are pricey and hard to find. Has anyone had any experience putting a lower resolution panel in a 770X that came with SXGA?

Andy

update: Transplanted the 8mb video card (comes with SXGA panel) into an XGA machine. Everything works!
