After installing a new harddrive I have managed to install win98, and the additional IBM drivers. However i still have a few issues.

Firstly i wanted to update the bios, however i do not have a floppy drive, so is there a way to do this from a cd? I shouls also install the registry fix for docking, but again can i do this from a cd?

The sound worked when win98 had just been installed, but once i installed the drivers from IBM there is none. I checked in easy setup and the test stated that audiowas okay. Any thoughts?

I also have a hardware conflict with the Intel 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE, apparently it is conflicting with the Standars Bus Mastering IDE Hard Disk? I am not tecnically minded so have no idea about this, once again any suggestions are appreciated.

What is the model of your machine?
I have a TP770X withoug a FDD. I updated the bios of this model by
following this procedure.

On another computer equipped with a FDD and a CD burner. I first
downloaded the latest bios file from IBM web site. Next I created the
bios update disk out of this file. Then I burned a bootable CD of the
bios update disk.

I booted my TP770X from the bios update CD, followed the instruction
and the bios was successfully updated.

Thanks, how would i actually create a bootable cd?

Refer to the help file of the burning software you would use.
I believe most CD burning software can create a bootable CD out
of a floppy. I used Adaptec Easy CD creator and Nero buring ROM.
Both worked just fine.

Windows XP can burn a CD by default but I don't think XP can burn a
bootable CD.
