Transnote PCMCIA Weird?

#1 Post by fuji_man » Fri Jan 04, 2008 2:18 pm

OK, I just got a new IBM Thinkpad USB 2.0 cardbus for my Transnote. While the unit will detect all the PCMCIA cards I throw at it except for a no name USB card, it refuse to even detect the card.

I am running XP and the thing doesn't even detect any hardware change when card is inserted.

What could be wrong here? Could it be voltage or what. I read that this card will work with transnote, and I really like to have USB 2.0 for this thing could anyone help me, please

Welcome to the forum!

I'm guessing you might need a driver for the card.

Thanks for the welcome

Well, I don't even able to get the driver thing yet, it is not even detect the present of the card to allow loading of the driver, it is as if the card is never there to begin with.

I try booting the thing with the card inserted while connected to my USB key with LED indicator, but the LED light never light up all though the bootup, so seems that it is not getting power or something, but I don't get why would all other pcmcia card get power but not this one...

Give me some time, I will try this sucker on another laptop to make sure it works............ What is the chances a new card don't work......

Any suggestion in the mean time will still be great, thanks

oops, missed that - sorry

have you the possibility to try the card in another notebook? If it still isn't recognised, I'd tip that the card is a dud.

Ok, more info for whoever understand this.

I went into Event Viewer of XP and an error under PCMCIA shows up went I inserted the card

I read that error 10 is a power issue, but I turn off all the not needed items like infrared and disable PCI power managment, but still not doing it.

BTW my bios is 1.02, anyone have the same bios and able to run the card? Also the sort works with my wifi card and the usb card will work on a different thinkpad so I dunno what is the issue

Please anyone after reading this have any idea of how to fix it, please let me know

This is what it say
Source: PCMCIA
EventID: 10
