Dell Margi DVD-to-Go card in a 600x?
I have successfully installed Dell Margi DVD-to-Go cards in 600e's but unable to in 600x's (and in T2x's). I can get the video but no audio. Has anyone successfully installed the card in the latter models? What am I missing? Thanks.

the margi card is kind of hit and miss on the 600x. i have a friend
that had one, and it worked fine, (on XP) but it seems to me that when
the card started, the default volume set on the card's aplication
viewer (DVD to go program) would be defaulting to "mute"
or no volume. the volume had to be adjuted in the margi dvd to go program. you also need the newest drivers for the sound,
and the zoomed video and audio has to be "on".
some time later, i tried to get one to work on a 500 mhz 600x,
and i could never get the sound to worked for me. i gave up because the cpu has enough processing power to run power dvd
or win dvd just fine (unlike my 300 mhz 380z, its dvd playback
looked like a slide show without the margie)
if neccesary, you could allways make your 600x a "dual boot"
computer with a small partition containing 98se on it.

It is not. I have friends who got the 600x and had been egging me to install the Dell Margi card on theirs after seeing my Margi card equipped 366mhz 600e loading and running dvd movies smoother than theirs. The playback difference is even more prominent with poorly recorded or highly compressed material or for discs which have shown some wear even on leaner players like Media Player Classic. So I ordered a lot of those cards from eBay only to encounter installing them using the win XP driver (same as the one installed on the 600e). I have searched the Margi/Dell forums but gave up after unsuccesful tries of the suggested solutions. I was hoping that one of the members here had a proven solution and would post a guide for everyone.ms5133 wrote:Is a hardware card really necessary to play video in a 600X?
