installing win2k / using pc-doctor / floppy issues!

okay, i posted a while ago about trouble installing win2k on my 600x (the installation freezes while 'detecting' whatever).

anyway, it was recommended that i get pc-doctor and check everything i can.. so i got pc-doctor and the disk (brand new floppy) won't boot.

now, i'm quite sure that this is a problem with the internal floppy drive (i.e. it's garbage) as i've had other floppy related issues.. so i'm just wondering what the ideal route is from here. do i get an external (USB?) floppy and forget the internal or replace the internal? or on ebay i've seen some external non-usb (i think) drives made for this series of ibms..

man it would be great if this machine would work!

thanks

I've had my 600X since it was brand new. The floppy drive has never worked quite correctly in the internal bay. It works just fine in the external floppy-only bay.

You might try getting the external bay... or a new USB floppy.

I have a 600E that refused to recognize the floppy, either in the Ultrabay or in the external port.

But it recognized an LS-120 drive as a floppy with no problem (only works in the Ultrabay).
