Thinkpad 600x trackpoint gone crazy

#1 Post by justin » Mon Nov 29, 2004 3:22 pm

The trackpoint on the 600x is basically unusable now. It has a mind of it's own and either goes all the way left or right depending on how it feels. Rebooting, etc. only fixes it for very short periods of time.

External mouse works fine, but even that gets screwed up sometimes as the trackpoint overrides it and forces the pointer to the side of the screen.

Any suggestions? also any sources for NEW keyboards for the 600x?

Have you try to reload the trackpointer drivers from IBMs weibsite? Or you have Windows XP Retail Version to do a repair option and if that does not work then an upgrade.

If it works after rebooting; then I think it a software issue not a hardware one. I think you may have corrupted drivers!

Either of the two alternative should work! The one for sure is the Windows XP upgrade.
