i have a 385xd thinkpad it has been a good computer, but i needed to reinstall win98 on it, so i installed win98 se and i installed the latest video driver for my card vftpi89m.exe from ibm , that went realy good and i also up graded my bios, the only thing is when i set my desplay to 1024x768 the desk top is bigger then my screen , i noticed that in device manager my monitor is set to default shouldn't it be set to an lcd ? ok i found the lcd desplay setting and i changed it but the desk top is still bigger then the screen is there a correct driver i have searched ibm and can't find one ?

the maxium native resolution of your thinkpad is 800 by 600. if you exceed that number, either your screen gets cropped, or you have to move the screen up, down, left, or right using the mouse pointer (like on the 240 series thinkpads) to see what is "hidden"

pls check the IBM website for the driver, file called 1yoi04ww.exe. it's "Monitor File for Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP - ThinkPad General ", supporting almost all types of ThinkPad, maybe working well on yr 385xd.

thinkpad adrian is right, your max is 800x600 but if you have an external monitor you can take it up to a whopping 1024x768 @ 65k colors. That will give you the realestate to see what's going on......

ok i tried 1yoi04ww.exe just to see what would happen and win98se kept the driver i already had so no luck there, thanks for all the help i have another problem but i will post that in a new thread .
