hi
i wanted to install puppy 3.01 linux on my 385xd but i did not have enough memory, i was looking on the internet and found this
http://zurich.ai.mit.edu/hypermail/thin ... /0778.html on puppy forum a guy had used it to upgrade his memory so he could use puppy 3.01, so i ordered so memory (ktm=tp770/128-ce) well i followed the instructions and got this:
at boot memory test gives me 03232 kb
when i test the memory in the bios program it gives me:
dev 002
err 21
fru 0020
ok so that isn't the right memory so i have a stick of ibm thinkpad memory 76h0268, 05l9379 64 mb edo sodimm (8c) that should work for a 385xd so i put that in the computer, it locks the computer up at the checking memory screen and gives one realy sick beep.
so i start reading again and find a pdf file 38xhmm.pdf in that pdf page 31 list memory options:
2635-8xx/9xx/Axx/Bxx
8MB and 16MB 70ns EDO DIMM
card
16MB, 32MB, and 64MB EDO
DIMM card (max. 96MB)
2635-Dxx/Exx/Fxx
16MB, 32MB, and 64MB 60ns
EDO DIMM card (max. 96MB)
from what i can tell even thought i have a 385xd mine is a 2635-leu witch is not listed on page 31, so i go back to ibm web sight and find this http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... JEK-3U6JSA witch tells me as and option 16 MB EDO SO-DIMM Memory my 385xd has 32 mb with out a memory stick installed, is this telling me i can only install 16 more mb?
