Transnote dead - leaky green battery

My Transnote is dead

It does not boot when I push the power button. the HD LED flashes once and nothing. The HD does spin up, but no beeps, no display.

I tried: swapping battery and power adaptors, swapping HD, no change.

When I opened it up, the ribbon cable under the keyboard looked extremely corroded. This is the one that hooks up to the BIOS backup (yellow) battery, and the green battery that provide backup power to the the transnote (electronic notepad) side. This battery has corroded nodes. And where it connects to the ribbon cable, more corrosion there.

Nasty. I should have disconnected the green battery when I replaced the yellow battery many months ago.

RIP

Have similar trouble...
System turns on in 1 time of 100.
In 99 times HD not even spin up, only HD LED flashing once.
CMOS and Backup batteries are dead, but not leaked.

Can someone tell what to do?
Is it battery induced trouble or something in VRM? Or something else?

I have a great Transnote for sale, if that helps: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=113428
Those green batteries are next to impossible to find, (and VERY expensive).

Thanks ) I saw you Transnote and I think it's excellent. And price is reasonable, but with shipping to Russia it will be expensive and our post is not reliable.

If you have friends in Finland or Estonia, I could ship it to them for $65.-
