600e Boots to Dark Screen Requiring Fn-F7 To Activate

#1 Post by fuzzypup » Thu Mar 20, 2008 9:03 am

Each time I boot my 600e the screen is dark until I press Fn-F7 then the screen display is activated. Pressing Fn-F7 will cycle through the LCD , separate monitor and LCD+monitor settings but does not hold the LCD setting for the next boot. This is happening without an operating system installed.

Am I missing a BIOS setting or some other setting that will lock the LCD as first boot option.

Is it possible your lid closure switch is stuck closed? That will make it start up with an external monitor.

Thanks for that suggestion. The switch was stuck.
