600x boot problems

#1 Post by kingbee32 » Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:12 pm

ok this 600x 2645 8eu was getting 161 and 163 error so I replaced cmos battery. After replacing cmos battery windows starts up but hangs up with 'active directory is starting" Now I did do a search on 600x boot problems, cmos batt, liton batt and other problems. I tried booting with battery in and with battery out and still same problem.
So I'm open for suggestions. 8)

thanks

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds to me like you did the right thing... and now the software is messed up. I would get the PC Doctor download from Lenovo for the 600X and use that to test the machine.

If that's OK, boot a LiveCD like Knoppix, Ubuntu or Fedora Linux.

If that works OK, re-install your OS of choice.

If you have downloaded the .EXE file from here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-495KW2

you have to execute it and then follow the directions to make the bootable diskette. You can either double-click it from Windows Explorer or open up a DOS window in the directory where you have stored the file and type its name (dgpcdoc). Copying the .EXE onto a blank floppy will not work. If you have a CD burner and software which can handle an .ISO image and you would rather boot from a CD, then you can also reference this:
