TravelStar Death rattle?

#1 Post by ChefJohn » Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:58 am

I had put the 20 Gb Travelstar Hard drive into an external USB case. All was fine until yesterday - I plugged it in and heard clack clack clack then nothing.
Has this deathstar gone on to meet its maker?
Is there anyway of getting data off of it - without going the full $$$ data recovery route?
I thought that the death was a slow thing not a sudden clack clack clack and that's it
It did come from a 600 so I think that is how it is related to this forum..

Run the hitachi fitness test.
It will tell you if your drive is DEAD. If the later you will not be able to recover anything.
