Hello,

I could use some help with the following:

I have an IBM Thinkpad 390X 2626 L0A with 512MB and W2K SP4, for internet/networking I use an Wifi card with an Atheros AR2413A chipset. This setup works great but recently I bought a 4 port USB2.0 hub cardbus with a VIA VT612 chip.

When I insert the USB hub in the second (top) slot and conect a memory stick to it the internet/networking connection falls away.

Properties in devicemanager shows: Cannot start device, Code 10.
When I restart with both cards inserted I get the same message.

When I use both cards in a Toshiba Tecra 8000 256MB and W2K SP4 they both work fine. So it looks like the cards are working fine.

I installed the latest BIOS and drivers for the Thinkpad and for the cards.

To be clear the USB2.0 hub is working fine. It is just the Wifi card that is having a problem.

My questions are:
Is there anyone with the same problem.
Is there a kown solution. Maybe some changes in the registry.
Could a program like CardWizard help.
Anybody using a Wifi card (cardbus) with USB2.0 hub (cardbus) without problems. If so, which brand/type.
Any other advice is also welcome.

Do you have "Configuration Manager" installed? That would possibly help to free up a resource for the code 10. The other thing that came to mind was not enough power for two cardbus devices.

I don't think the link is needed it is meant for SP3 and I have all the recent updates and service packs installed.

I'm also thinking more on the line of not enough power especially because the wifi-card will consume more power then a normal card.

Yes, I have the Configuration Manager installed. I already shut down all not needed ports (serial, parallel, IR, joystick) and tried switching of the PCI power management in the BIOS.

I'm looking for a tweak to boost the power to the PCMCIA slots (or one of them), maybe via the registry.

I didn't try the PCI manager because I don't know I could help, I reads:
Device 1 ------ IRQ 11
Device 2 ------ IRQ 5
Device 3 ------ IRQ 11
Device 4 ------ IRQ 11

In device manager both slots/cards are shown as using IRQ 7.

Any input is welcome.
