I'm shure the answers I want are available somewhere on the internet, but I don't have time to dig. Sorry if this is getting annoying.

1. Can I install just any ThinkPad compatible IDE hard drive, or does it have to be 760XD specific?

2. There seems to be a little extra space under the CD-ROM. Is there another option that can go under the drive, or is it only for something that replaces the drive?

3. Is it possible to rebuild the battery by getting some AA NiMHs at Radio Shack and replacing the dead ones inside the case, or is there more to it than that?

4. How do I get into it's equivalent of Easy Setup or Cmos Setup?

This is from memory (it's been years since I last used a 760 series)

I believe it's a standard IDE hard disk, but cocooned in a special plastic cradle for the 760 series bay.

The extra space is for options that can fit in the Ultrabay (e.g. floppy drive, 2nd battery, etc.) that have a different form factor to the CD drive. I know a 2nd battery sits lower in the chassis than the CD or floppy drive options do. There should be a blue tab in the Ultrabay you can flip up to expose the battery contacts.

I think that is the general idea behind "battery restuffing".. unsure what size cells are appropriate (there are many others, other than the standard AAA/AA/C/etc. types), or how well the power manager circuitry reacts to it though.

Though, aren't the 760 series batteries Li-Ion?

I think you hold down F1 from a cold boot. It's a graphical CMOS setup with a mouse pointer that looks like a flying duck (I am not making this up)

Thanks! Now, a slightly more inteligent question: Is there a limit to the size of the hard drive? I'm thinking about getting an 80 gig, but the way prices are going, I might even get a 200 gig. But will it work with something that big?
