any info on a z50 workpad PLEASE!!!

#1 Post by northcarolinagal » Mon Jun 02, 2008 7:19 am

i just bought a z50 workpad this last week and it is due in today or tomorrow and I am trying to get all the info on it I can. I seen in one of the earlier post that it can be connected to a printer. I know I got a little laptop printer a canon bj30 for 3 dollars at the thrift store here and it works perfectly. Have it hooked up right now to my 2611 but if it would work with my z50 that would be great. also if anyone has any ideas where i can find the dram for it that would be good too. have searched all over but to no avail so far. the guy i bought if off of says it works just from the looks of the pic he had the wrong power adapter to it so it would boot thru power. got it for $26 dollars. also anyone know how to get it to sync with a laptop or a desktop without the docking station for it. any help would be so appreciated ALOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks

I owned a Z50 for a little while before selling it to a forum member. The memory upgrade for this little machine is extraordinarily rare and expensive. I could never locate a compatible memory module. If you're looking on the internet-- always double check the compatibility. There were many sellers listing Z50 compatible RAM and I found none were accurate in that claim.

As for printing, I never tried it, but I believe a special serial/parallel cable is required. If you can find a pinout diagram you might be able to create it yourself. The same goes for the sync cable. For Wifi, I was using a Symbol Networker which fit in the Compact Flash slot. That worked well.
Current Thinkpads: 600E, 600X, 701C, A31 (Flexview), R51 (Flexview), R60, T42P (Flexview), TR50E, T60 (Flexview), X61s (Ultralight), Z61m (Ti) Non-Thinkpad: Toshiba 100ct

thanks virge for some more info on it. got it today and it is really cool. i love my ipaq but this one is more like using one of my laptops but more for the info i need at my hands at the time i need it instead of looking for it.

another person told me i should be able to use the serial port to usb as a sync to my desktop for the workpad.

had just bought 5 compact flash cards with 256 mbs each and had a 1 gb for my ipaq so should have plenty of storage for a while hopefully. i have a san disk 128cf/wifi card that soon as i can get it to sync i will try to get running.

thanks again virge i appreciate the info alot.
