trackpoint error 8613

#1 Post by mastermiaow » Sun Dec 19, 2004 5:10 pm

my trackpoint has become uncontrollable and I have been advised that I need to replace keyboard. I checked in downloaded HMM and notice that the action recommended for error code that I am getting on start up is:

1."Reseat the keyboard cable on the sub card 2.keyboard 3.External mouse 4.sub card 5. system board."

Does this translate as get a new keyboard or is there something else I should do first?!!

If you read the manual, it says you should try the steps in order, and end up replacing only one item.

So first, try reseating the cable. If that doesn't work, replace the keyboard (which should probably do it). If that doesn't work, PUT THE OLD KEYBOARD BACK IN and replace the extrenal mouse, then sub card, then system board.

That's what they suggest, anyway. I had an 8611, and the trackpoint was shot. A used keyboard fixed it right up.
