760EL - want to install Win98SE

#1 Post by Neizer » Sun Jul 13, 2008 9:23 am

I have a old 760EL with Win95a on it and I would like to install Win98se on it. I have been to the IBM site and I don't see a lot of driver support for this laptop anymore. Does anyone know what device driver are not going to be available in Win 98 and any other problems I might have with this upgrade. The laptop doesn't have a cd-rom drive so I will be having to chop up my cd disc on to floppy's. I also would like to know what support Win98 had for Wireless lan Pcmica card support. I would like to be able to surf the web wireless since this laptop also does not have ethernet ports. Also I have already flash the bios with the lastest bios for this model.

thanks
System stats are:
760EL/Pentium r/ Cyber 9320 video/ 2 pcmica slots

W98 Drivers are at:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 59734.html

There are wireless cards out there that support W98/W98SE/ME .. I used to use a Netgear WG511T pcmcia card under W98SE, and later ME, which worked ok ..
