I have recovery disks for the 600, but don't know whether they are Ok with the "e" version of that machine. I'll have to check to see whether they are 98 or W2K.

I apreciate any help.I tried the two boards I just got and the 600e turns on but doesnt do anything and the othe 600 gives me a 161 and 163 error and the bios is locked.Anyone know how to change that. There is no pasword for the bios lock but how can I turn it off. Please let me knowwhat recovery you have.Either should work.

Moderator note: 161/163 errors are indicative of a bad (or temporarily disconnected) backup battery. Replacing that battery will fix the 161/163 errors only if you can access the BIOS to reset the time/date. Your statement about the BIOS lock is confusing: if there is no password for the BIOS, then you won't need to turn it off. If you do have a BIOS (supervisor) password, then unfortunately, forum rules dictate that no discussion of hacking techniques is allowed.

There is no password.i just have to hit enter and it goes.the problem is it will not let me access anything. The battery is good but it still pops up as an error. It will not go into bios
