What is the type/spec on the one screw on the laptop bottom? Not the 4 screws for the caddy.
I have looked on the HW maintenance manual but I can't tell which one it is.

Thanks for that!
Contrary to the what the person in the last post in that thread wrote, my local Home Depot does not carry any metric smaller than 4mm and the selection was very limited.

Why didn't I think of starting a business like that.

Your local hobby shop probable carries the Du
Bro line of small metric screws used in RC cars. The one that fit the 600 and is a security screw (allen wrench socket, not the slot for an ordinary screwdriver) is DuBro 2120 3MM X 4 SOCKET HEAD CAP SCREWS.

It's too bad the Dubro screws requires an Allen wrench. I think I have a cheap set of Allen wrenches somewhere.

DuBro makes a slot head 3X4 mm; I just thought the security head was a better idea.

Thanks.
Looks like I'll have to make a visit to my local hobby store - a first!

Before heading to the "nearest" hobby shop 30 minutes away, I went into to my local Ace hardware store 5 minutes away.
They have a great screws department.
I actually didn't buy the 3mm x 4, I bought the 3mm x 6, and it works just as well. They also had 3mm x 5. If had wanted black, the only screw available had the allen head. I decided to buy the regular metallic silver with Philips head. $0.11 each. What a bargain!!!

I use the screws usually included with the purchase of a replacement desktop 5.25-inch optical drive. They come in 4mm-6mm lengths but the couple of extra mm can be leisurely filed if required. The diameter (3-mm) and thread seem to be standard for those optical drives, and they fit the laptop hd bottom screw holes.

Thanks for that tip.
I hadn't really paid attention to the extra screws I have lying around. I actually see four screws that saved from I forget what that looks like they might work. Wow!
