Greetings,
I just bought a old IBM Thinkpad 380XD for €20.00 (couldn't resist such bargain)
It's battery is dead and CMOS battery is also dead. I allready have a new CMOS battery so TIme and Date are kept when the laptop is not powered On.
I also got a 20Gb hard drive to install and take out the 4Gb stock drive.
It has 64Mb ram and I don't know if it's going to be easy to get my hands on compatible memory.

It's running Windows 2000 and it's not veryyy slow
My question for you guys is, what can I use this machine for?
I was thinking of using it as a workbench helper, holding customer information, emails and diagrams and tech documents in Pdf.
What other tasks can this machine do?
Looking forward for your tips

Best Regards from Portugal

Reckon it'll still do for email, fetching up basic pdf's, that kind of stuff.
I wouldn't like to run win2k in 64MB. What memory does it take ? EDO DIMM ? Do you jave a slot free ? ... I have a 32MB EDO DIMM here you could have for postage + a beer :-)

Thank you for the reply.
It uses EDO DIMM but it has 32Mb built in and a slot with another 32Mb. I want to change this 32Mb DIMM do 64Mb DIMM. aybe even try to find a battery but only if I can get a good deal.
I was thinking of using it as a field equipment because it's a rough workhorse and leave my other "more recent" laptop at home. I don't know.
Best regards
