600x modded into an external monitor (sort of)

#1 Post by Mannersxxx » Tue Oct 28, 2008 9:11 am

My latest 600x project has been fully written up at my new blog:

http://thinkpad600x.blogspot.com/

Please take a look and feel free to leave comments – any comments you fancy. I know the photos aren’t great and I’m going to put some more up. I’ll also be using this blog to detail some of my other mods I’ve done on my 600x’s.

Would like to hear anyone’s thoughts of what angles of photo they’d like to see and any questions. Also is anyone modding 600x as drastically as this I’d love to see em – would be happy to add anyone’s projects to my blog.

Nice mod. :D I was considering doing something similar to this with an old 560 I have. I was going to mount an old touch window on top of a flipped around screen, but I was having trouble thinking about how to turn the screen around without twisting the ribbon. Never thought of just wrapping it around the other side...

Now I just need a power adaptor for the touchwindow and a replacement lcd for the 560... >_>

That sounds very interesting indeed! Certainly would be nice to be able to tap the screen to get things done. However you would probably need to add something to make the computer even sturdier so it doesn't rock too much when you're tapping the screen.

How do these touch windows attach to the 560....using the VGA port?

I was planning on toting it around, not as a standing machine... But I could probably figure out a way to make it stand. :D

The one I have is a 15-pin serial. You can get USB ones though... I just got this one from a friend. I don't even know if it works! XD I can't find a power adaptor for it!

 What a coincidence! You registered here exactly one year to the day after me. :D Weird...
