Need suggestions on repairing a 240x

Hi,

I have a 240x running Win2K that was working fine until a few weeks ago when the display started to become completely distorted intermittently. I had originally hoped it would be the video cable connection under the keyboard but I checked that and it looked fine. So the problem I fear is with the actual screen or a connection/part within the screen assembly.

I was able to pick up a 240 laptop that runs fine, screen and all. Since I would like to continue to use the 240x for the faster processor, I was considering the following two options:

-Replace the entire lcd screen assembly on the 240x with the known working screen from the 240

-Transfer the motherboard from the 240x into the 240 laptop

Any suggestions on the above two options? Or is there another option to get my 240x working again?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have replaced the whole lcd in my 240x with one from a 240 and works fine. Probably the easiest solution.

But it is worth try to reset the connection in the lcd itself, nothing to loose.

Cheers!

I agree.

Is the HMM pretty accurate as far as opening up the lcd case to verify cable connections within the screen assembly? Any tips you can pass along?
