Wanted: Electronic geek help--600X

#1 Post by vineyridge » Sun Nov 09, 2008 1:46 pm

Okay, I'm certifiably nuts. I'm wedded to the 600X with a bond that doesn't quit. Read my other posts, please.

Since I have one with a dead motherboard, and one with a not so dead LCD and video adapter, I'd like to find someone who will put the two together, test out the resulting one, and establish a long term repair relationship with me.

I'm in the Mississippi Delta, and we don't seem to have any geek clubs, electronic tech training, or repair shops within 60 or 70 miles. If I go to Memphis, the place that I tried wants to send machines away to "factory depots", whatever they are--and I'm looking at way more than $200 for the experience. I can buy a "refurbished" one on ebay for less than that, and would probably get the same warranty--which is thirty days, if I'm lucky.

Any suggestions? Anyone know of electronics clubs in the Memphis area?

If you'd be willing to ship both machines, and to pay shipping both ways to New York and back, I'll fix it for free (if that is possible) Minimally if one good machine can't be built, I can give you an idea of repair cost, and either do it for you, or ship the machines back. In fact, I'd also be willing to document the process as another forum project.

Sounds good to me.

Let me get one back from Memphis and find out how to ship with pre-paid return shipping. It'll probably take a couple of weeks to make the trek North.

Send me the address in an PM. If I seem dilatory, it's because I am. :)
