Free UltraBay II and 770X parts

#1 Post by cnelson » Tue Nov 18, 2008 4:09 pm

I have the following UltraBay II (for ThinkPad 770 and SelectaDock III) devices available:
- 1 x IBM 1.44MB floppy drive (FRU 12J0425) with external cable (FRU 39F2077)
- 1 x IBM 1.44MB floppy drive (FRU 12J0425)
- 1 x IBM DVD drive (FRU 05K9014)
- 1 x IBM DVD drive (FRU 11J8952)
- 1 x IBM 2nd Hard Disk Drive Adapter (FRU 11J8941 adapter + FRU 11J8942 ThinkPad 770 hard drive spacer) with IBM 14.1GB hard disk (FRU 02K0525)

ThinkPad 770 parts:
- 1 x IBM AC Adapter (FRU 02K6496)
- 1 x IBM 64MB 66MHz 3.3V SO-DIMM (FRU 42H2820)
- 1 x IBM 128MB 66MHz 3.3V SO-DIMM (FRU 01K1153)
- 1 x IBM Li-Ion battery (FRU 02K7019)
- 2 x video-in-out cable (FRU 85G1897) for 770 DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter
- 1 x copy of Product Recovery CD-ROM for IBM ThinkPad 770X, Version 1.0 (28L2913)
- 1 x copy of ThinkPad Customization CD for IBM ThinkPad 770X, Version 1.0 (28L2915)

I don't know if all these devices work, but they all appear to be in good physical condition. They are available to anyone who wants them and will pay for the shipping (from ZIP code 87111). Priority will be given to someone who wants the entire lot. Since I am giving them away for free, it would be nice if they went to a user or collector who will use or preserve them, not to someone who just wants to re-sell them on eBay.

Welcome to the Forum, cnelson!

That is a generous and kind offer, and quite an auspicious beginning to your membership here!

I'm sure you'll get some interest from someone in the U.S., but on the off-chance that you don't, then I'd be more than happy to pay for USPS International or Global Priority mail to send the lot up here to Toronto in Canada.

I use my 770's for my students to have tutoring workstations where they can work and I can watch/help them on another monitor. I work in a high school dropout recovery program with students from ages 16 - 22. I am not a collector, but your stuff will support a worthwhile cause. I live in 44052. What do you think shipping will be?

[If anyone knows where I can get some cheap VGA splitters/distribution amps and another really cheap 770X, let me know. Thanks.]

Oh, there's a few things there I could certainly use, but most aren't of use to me at the moment, especialy since shipping would probably be more than I could easily afford right now.

If you lived in Brooklyn, you get a knock on the door, I can tell you that. ;)

Hello,

I can see myself wanting the memory, power adapter, second harddisk bay caddie and perhaps the DVD's (I must verify either that they would fit a 600x as is or are the right form factor to do so when put in a new caddie). But it make take a few hours before I have the time to resarch this.

Thanx,

Robert

2nd HDD adapter won't, nor will either of the DVD drives.

Well, the ultrabays are different. The form factor from the 600 series is 9.5 mm. I couldn't find it for the 770 however, but I presume that you are saying that it is 12.5 mm.

So in brief, that limits me to the adapter and the 128 mb memory, if available.

I suppose these have all been donated by now?

If not, I'd be interested in, for shipping to TX,

- 1 x IBM 2nd Hard Disk Drive Adapter (FRU 11J8941 adapter + FRU 11J8942 ThinkPad 770 hard drive spacer)

Don't need the hard drive itself.

Funny, a few months ago, I bought a 770 DVD on ebay! :)

I had offered to take any of the parts for laptops used by students and never heard anything. I tried PMing cnelson and got no reply either. I am also curious as to the status.

The parts have already been given away. Sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner, but I have been away from the retro-ThinkPad world since Thanksgiving.
