installing a dvd/CDRW drive

#1 Post by satguy » Thu Jan 13, 2005 1:09 am

I have recently acquired a <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp ... bo%20drive" onmouseover="window.status='combo drive'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">combo drive</a> for my Iseries laptop.
It is a M a t s u s h i t a ujda730.
The problem is when I go to install this drive I am prompted for a "bootdisk".
I was hoping that XP would recognize the drive, but it seems XP won't load while this drive is installed.
All attempts to find a driver for this drive has also failed.
Is my attempts to install this drive in vain? Should I just throw this badboy up on the auction block and look for something else, or is there a way I can get this badboy to work?
All advice is welcome.
James.
P.S. If the latter is the case, does anybody wanna combodrive cheap, and maybe you can stear me in the right direction for my next purchase.
Thanks in advance.
James.
