I believe somewhere in this forum someone mention that taking the HD OUT OF THE 560 AND WITH THE PROPER CABLE hook it up to the desktop and DL windows 98. I have 95 on it now.
Any help would be appreciated. Bob

it all depends on whast you mean or expect as the finished product..

USB external HDD boxes are pretty cheap..
and some of them even come with HDD's..

if all you want is the load files for win98 and then load it from the HDD it has been done..

if you want a complete working version of the OS for the 560 then you need an image and something like acronis true image and an (identical) 560 image..

it might be easier to help if we knew what hardware you have for the 560..
base..? external USB CD..? external floppy and cable (the 560 came with a floppy that would slide into the base or connect via a special cable)..?

You can use 2.5" -> 3.5" drive adapter (they are cheap, like 4-5 usd) and copy the win98 installation files to 2.5" drive, at the same time you can boot to DOS using some boot cd or floppy and execute sys C: (or whatever letter your laptop drive appears) and you'll have bootable hard drive for your 560. From that on you can start installing win98 already in the 560.

I replaced the hard drive on my 760XD and replaced a flakey drive in a POS system at work using an hd enclosure connected to my USB port (make sure you know the difference between SATA and PATA [or just ata]) and a copy of Acronis installed on the desktop so I could image the drive with boot sector and simply load that same layout onto another disk.
