Ok, I just signed up to this forum so Hi everybody. I just got the EVA dvd hardware decoder and I have just scoured the interwebs for any way to download the MediaMatics DVD Express
or the Soft DVD. its a shame that the software was not included on ebay. if anybody could help thatt would be great, as of now i have tried the compaq site with no luck and i have tried rapidshare/megaupload. I found a file on ares (gnutella network) but the host seems non existant. also torrents have turned up dry. if anybody who does this (abandonware) then could they kindly upload it to rapidshare (since the software is nolonger available for purchase it is fine to upload it) and also the HDD was reformatted so there is no trace of the software on the disk (it had a linux version on it ) and reinstalled win98Se twice. Any help would be great. if i find anything ill upload the file to rapidshare myself(for those who do indeed need it)
happy hunting

Oh, don't worry.
Get your hands on the perfect OS for this machine: Windows 2000.
Before you install, make sure that the DVD-drive is also installed in the Ultrabay.
After installation of Windows 2000, you got a nice little DVD-player in the multimedia section.
And yes....hold on...
....it's your lucky day
It works with the DEVA-card
Make sure though, to install all nessecary drivers. I got them if you need them.

Well. I won't recommend the Mediamatics thing. The DVD-player inside Windows 2000 is much better.
Even if you choose the Mediamatics, there's some things to be aware of.
After you have the software installed, you need to go to the devicemanager in the controlpanel.
In order to avoid judder and freezing frames during DVD-play, you need to change the DVD-drive from PIO-mode to DMA-mode.
It's done in the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controller section"
Check both primary and secondary IDE-channel.
And while you're at it. There's some really good tweaks around for the Registry Database.
They're basic stuff, but highly recommended. Memory management and so on.
I can't remember them all. My Windows 2000 installation is from 2005 and still running.
These tweaks should've been implemented by Microsoft from the very beginning.
If you don't know which or how, then ask.
Cheers
