570e and DVD movies

#1 Post by dementedlemur » Sat Jan 29, 2005 3:48 pm

I installed the generic windows media dvd decoder on my 570e but it will only run DVDs in 800x600 and in 16bit color. This wouldn't be a problem if it actually played them smoothly, but it's all choppy. I tried it out in my roommates laptop (Compaq m700 with pIII 500, 192 ram, and xp pro) that has exactly the same specs (processor, ram, and OS) and it plays everything just fine, on fullscreen. Is there a hardware issue that limits my machine?

you might try PowerDVD. I'm not sure of the other questions you had...but I never liked the DVD player that came with ThinkPads. Was choppy even on my T30 with 2Ghz and half of gig of RAM.
