Old thikpads and batteries...

#1 Post by aquasonic » Mon May 11, 2009 12:33 pm

Hello! New to the forum :D

I just got today a 380ED (a beauty!) and right now is playing music next to me for the last 30mins with its original battery still holding 80% charge (since i opened it, wasn't fully charged!)... The laptop hasn't boot up the last 3-4 years and only the backup battery failed!

Same thing with a 600E i got... The original battery holds ~2:30 hours and doesn't seem to want to die! :D I just can't believe how long li-ion cells can hold charge. I also want to say that this is the big difference between IBM and other companies : A dell latitude XPi CD (about same built year) has ni-mh battery... won't even try to charge...

Lol, I'm having trouble with a Ni-MH battery right now, on a 701c.

I just got a battery from off of Ebay, and supposedly, it worked for them. However, when I tried recharging to the max, and then removing AC power, the battery barely lasted for 3-4 seconds before completely discharging; enough to sound the warning siren from the computer and then shutting it down.

I tried recharging and discharging the battery at least 5 times, to no avail. I probably have to send the battery back, but does anybody else have any suggestions?
