Thanks to another post on this board, I got turned on to Impact Computers. Anyway, they have a 133MHz processor board for the 365X for just $30... mine has a 120, but I guess some versions of the 365x had the 133.

I totally realize that an upgrade from 120 to 133 wouldn't make a huge performance difference, (but busy hands are happy hands

), but does anyone have any knowledge about actually doing this? I do have the HMM for my machine, and I have had quite a bit of electronics tech experience, so I would be willing to give it a shot. Think it will work? (I don't care about battery life).

Furthermore, does anyone know if processor boards for the 760L or 310 or 315 would work? Those are available with P150MMX and P166MMX processors. Looks like the 310/315 are pretty similar (on the outside at least) to the 365x.

The ThinkPad 365X had the Pentium 120 while the ThinkPad 365XD had the Pentium 133. As I did say in my post about my 760E, the upgrade went well and gave a significant performance boost after I resolved an issue with my network card. As for battery life, I have not seen too much of a difference, maybe five minutes less, tops, but I don't think it's even that.

Now, unfortunately, you can't really do too much swapping around in various models. I know that you can use the same hard drive caddy in a 750, 360, 755, 365, 760 and 760 series computers, but as far as internal boards go, you can't really do any swapping. While the 365 and 310 laptops may seem similar on the outside, they are made by different companies. For some of the later 300 series laptops (310, 390) and the i Series were made by Acer.

As for that 133mhz board for you 365, well, the $30 dollar price tag is teetering on the boarders of reasonable. If you don't have the time to find a cheaper deal and/or can't find a cheaper deal, then go for it.

You can also turn to ebay and buy a non-working 365xd such as this one advertised "for parts":
