Thinkpad 355/360/750 hard drive - will 600E/T20 HDD work ??

I have a TP355c with a dead (password locked) hard drive.

Is it possible to use a 600E/T20 series hard drive as a replacement?

The TP355c hard drive caddy contains an "exposed" PCB and HDD connected to a flex cable.

I have not completely forced open the caddy for fear of damaging the flex cable but it might be that the flex cable ends in an IDE socket so I could plug in a 600E hard drive - although I will need to pad out the HDD to fit the caddy.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Yes, it is a standard drive inside. Just remove the two screws and ply open the clips on the side. The old Apricorn HDD cloning kit has an adapter for this caddy without the need to open it. There may be some BIOS limitation on HDD size.

Thinkpad 355 has a BIOS limitation and can support a maximum of 2.5G hard disk. These IDE laptop hard disks physical dimension is standard and are inter changeable. I have got two hard disks mentioned below suitable for TP355 series as well as TP600 series:

1. IBM Hard disk drive 360MB P/N.85G8374
2. IBM Hard disk drive 2GB
