8611 error on startup/ 600E

#1 Post by summer640 » Tue Feb 01, 2005 10:58 pm

I downloaded aol 9.0 and laptop was turned off. When I turned it on again some hours later I got a modem internal error. I went on the IBM site and tried all their steps but no good. Than my mouse stopped working, I did troubleshoot and PC didn't detect a problem. Now when I turn it back on it won't turn back on normally. It goes straight to easy setup with error on systemboard that reads:
DEV 086
Err 22
Fru 0010

I don't have a recovery disk & IBM won't sell me one because I upgraded to Windows 2000.

Please help me.....thanks so much in advance

Go into EasySetup and run the tests on your system.

Get out (or download) your user guide for the 600E and the hardware maintenance manual for full explanations of error codes.

8611 means your TrackPoint is faulty. A replacement keyboard should fix you right up.

086, 22, 0010 ... look that one up in your HMM.
