Hi all,

New to this forum, so hoping this is appropriate place for this post.

I have a 701C with the original 8MB of RAM and would like to install some more.

From everything I've read, it seems I can max out at 40MB if I can find a 32MB stick somewhere.

Does anyone have suggestions regarding a reliable, trustworthy source where I might be able to find a 32MB stick (or even a smaller one - anything add'l would be a vast improvement over what I have now...)? Have found numerous sites purporting to sell this for a large range of prices, but have no way of knowing which are reliable - I lost money in the past in a stupid attempt to buy old hardware from someone I knew nothing about, so am a little paranoid, but I figured in a community like this, you all would know better than me trying to buy from so random source I found on the net.

Or does anyone have compatible memory they are interested in selling? I've also got a box of parts from another Thinkpad of about the same age as the 701C that I tore apart years ago. Don't remember the model # off the top of my head, but would be happy to trade if I have something that you need.

Do a search here for Kahlon. They've gotten good reviews in the past.

It looks like the FRU number checks out and it's cheaper than Kahlon, so you can try to give this a whirl.

Kahlon fell through - just talked to them and they said they tried to do a small production run to manufacture the memory, but were unable to produce a functional item, so they are refunding my payment.

Going to try the eBay link BovineMage gave - thanks much!

Good news is, if I actually receive a working memory stick, I will have gotten it for half the price that Kahlon originally charged me, so we'll see...

Sorry about your Kahlon deal not going through, but be warned: I did buy some memory from another dealer that was suppose to work with my laptop, but didn't even fit through the hole on the bottom of the case for the RAM slots. So, just so you know, if it's at least too big to fit through that hole, then you probably can't use it (I should know; I actually completely disassembled my 701c just to stick that RAM stick in, and when I put it back together, it didn't even POST. To say I was frustrated was an understatement).
