Trackpoint won't work now on my TP 240

My old trusty TP 240 has not been turned on in a couple of years. When I turn it on now, it has no mouse cursor on the screen and the Trackpoint is shown in Device Manager as IBM PS/2 Trackpoint with an exclamation point. I'm using Win2K Pro. The properties say "The device is not working because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)". I've reinstalled the driver using "Update driver" but no success. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling but no success. I put this HDD in another 240 I have and same thing: no trackpoint. Any ideas anyone?
