Which series did you like better 380's or 760's and why?

I have a few 380 series Thinkpads (380XD, 380ED) and a few 760 series (760CD, 760ED, 760EL, 760ED, 760XD).

760s: A/V option, smaller and thinner, hot swappable drives, better screens.
380's: palmrest, permanent CDROM and Floppy drives installed, active cooling, faster processors.

Which ones do you guys like better, and why.

Was there a better Thinkpad Pentium 1 series?

I didn't have a 760 yet, but I have a 755CD + the CDV and on both of them the mouse buttons only work with extreme pressure on 'em - poor quality imho.
Also I have a 380D and I absolutely love it :) The mouse buttons of it still work nice and with little pressure.
It may be a bit thick, but the palmrest is a BIG advantage over the 7xx up to the 76x.
And imho the display on the 380D isn't that bad :) It's a nice, speedy (under NT4 SP6) Laptop with a good keyboard.
What I like about the 755's (and the 750's I already had), is the ease of exchanging RAM, HDD and ODD/FDD Drives. I think it's pretty similar to the 760 series?!

Anyways, my vote: 380! 8)

Well, "better" is a pretty subjective category...my personal favourite from the days of original Pentium would be 560...a pretty timeless design in my book.

I actually got into ThinkPads fairly late (compared to some other people on this forum) so I somewhat missed the glorious days of 380 and 75x/76x series...

I just started collecting Thinkpads a few months back after a friend was dumping a couple models. Mostly I collect old Mac/Amiga/PCs and started with laptops last year when a local guy was dumping a huge box of mac Wallstreet laptops parts (made up 5 units from them and some other parts I purchased).

The only vintage Thinkpad I ever used when it was new was the 701 a coworker had purchased in the 90's.

Someday I will get into the 770's and 560 series to check them out.

The 770's are some of the best TPs I have in my Colelction, especially the 770Z with SXGA Display - extremely nice to work with and a superb keyboard that needn't be afraid to be compared to the 600 Series
